ec7 club welfare

Sarah

At EC7 the welfare of all the members in our club is our top priority. We want everyone who trains with us, or plays in one of our teams, to feel safe and supported. As a club we have adopted the FA’s Safeguarding policies and we fully support the Respect programme.

Reporting Concerns about a Child’s welfare:

If you are worried about a child or young person, it’s vital you report your concerns.

Doing nothing is not an option. It’s also important you stay calm, and if any child is present, reassure them they are not to blame. But don’t make promises of confidentiality or outcome.

There are five ways to report a concern:

• Contact the Club Welfare Officer, Sarah Barr, by email – ec7clubwelfareofficer@gmail.com

• Contact the County FA Designated Safeguarding Office by email – safeguarding@berks-bucksfa.com or by phone – 01235 544894

• By emailing The FA National Safeguarding Team at safeguarding@TheFA.com

• If urgent and you cannot contact your club, league or County FA Designated Safeguarding Officer, you can contact the NSPCC Helpline for expert advice and support regarding safeguarding children on 0808 800 5000 or help@nspcc.org.uk

• If it is an emergency because a child or children are at immediate risk, then call the Police or Children’s Social Care in your area.

Children should also be aware that they can contact ChildLine confidentially on 0800 1111 if they want to discuss anything that might be worrying them. If they have access to the internet, then they can also go to: https://www.childline.org.uk/

If you have a safeguarding concern about an adult, speak to your club welfare officer, If they're not available contact your local county FA and ask for the designated safeguarding officer. You can also email safeguarding@thefa.com.

If you are a parent or carer there is also a free online Safeguarding training module that will increase your awareness of Safeguarding and the important role you play in helping EC7 and the FA in creating a safe and positive wherever your children play football. You will need a FA account (FA number) to access the training.
